2023 COLLEGIATE SNOWSHOE
NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
February 4 - MCCALL, IDAHO
The Collegiate Running Association is pleased to continue building upon existing partnerships with the United States Snowshoe Association (USSSA) and the American Trail Running Association (ATRA) to endorse the 3rd Collegiate Snowshoe National Championship. With an interruption by COVID in 2021 this marked the third year the United States Snowshoe Association included the Collegiate Snowshoe National Championships.
The 2023 Collegiate Snowshoe National Championship and the National Youth Snowshoe Racing Championships were held on February 4th in McCall, Idaho on Jog Mountain Ranch. Racers from across the nation ascended to Idaho to compete in a 5km U20 championship or open 10km event. The 10km national championship race took place concurrently.
The United States Snowshoe Association (USSSA) entered a new chapter with new leadership following legendary USSSA Sports Director, Mark Elmore’s retirement and the start of an important partnership with the American Trail Running Association (ATRA). With ATRA’s support, USSSA continues building upon the success of the Collegiate and Junior (U20) National Championships. The future of snowshoe racing is bright!
This public event offered something for everyone, of all ages and abilities with college male and female athletes competing in a 5km or 10km snowshoe race. The Collegiate Snowshoe National Championships featured a national collegiate division in the 5km (U20) and 10km. Individual and team awards presented within the collegiate division with the top 5 in each division earning Collegiate Running Association All-America honors.
This event not only crowned national champions in the collegiate and youth divisions, the top 5 overall and U20 finishers were selected to the USSSA Junior National Team, earning berths on the 2023 U.S. Junior (U20) National Snowshoe Teams making those athletes eligible to represent the USA in international snowshoe competition over the upcoming year.
