Collegiate Running Association partners with Wahoo Sports & Entertainment

Richmond, VA - The Collegiate Running Association (CRA), the leading organization in road, mountain, trail and snowshoe running for college students and USATF Virginia, announced a partnership with Wahoo Sports & Entertainment, the leader in high-visibility LED video boards.

“We are thrilled to partner with Wahoo Sports & Entertainment to bring multiple LED video boards to the RVA XC Festival, host of the 2024 USATF National Cross Country Championships,” said Collegiate Running Association President and Co-Founder Steve Taylor. “This partnership will help us further our outreach and mission. As we move into our eleventh year, we are beginning to extend our reach to businesses who produce or provide quality products which enhance running and active-lifestyle experiences within our sport."

"For the RVA XC Festival, these extra-large LED video boards will enhance the experience of the athletes and spectators", continued Taylor. "We envision this partnership changing the way cross country races are experienced.  Imagine a top level cross country event laid out on a super spectator friendly course where the competing athletes and spectators can hear knowledgeable commentary in real-time during the race and spectators can watch races unfold in person and on the video board!  That's exactly what Wahoo Sports & Entertainment will bring to this event and these championships.”

Tom Hill, owner of Wahoo Sports & Entertainment, commented, “Our partnership with the Collegiate Running Association and USATF Virginia furthers our visibility to improve the athlete and viewer experience of running and sporting events in innovative ways.”

Prior to opening Wahoo Sports & Entertainment, Hill served Baylor University for nearly 28 years. From graduate assistant to coach to Senior Associate Athletic Director, Hill was intimately involved with the steady growth of Baylor Athletics. While at Baylor, he had direct oversight of athletics community relations’ efforts as well as the point person for special projects, events and championships throughout his career.

He helped guide the department’s facility transition to one of the most dominant in the U.S. He was the lead on athletic projects such as the FCS Skybox and North Endzone, Baylor Ballpark, Hart Patterson Track, Clyde Hart Track, McLane Stadium (Committee), Getterman Softball, Tennis Courts and Offices, Golf, Basketball Practice area, Ferrell Center – upper and lower level, 2 video board and floor installs, Soccer, Equestrian and others.

Hill brought multiple Championships to Waco and Baylor while also serving as director for multiple championships including the 1997 inaugural, 1999, 2006 and 2014 Big 12 Outdoor Track & Field Championships. He was involved in Baylor’s recent efforts to host the 2015 NCAA National Tennis Championships in Waco and also directed several NCAA Regional and Super Regional Championships at Baylor.

"After hosting an incredibly successful 2023 USATF National Cross Country Championships, we want to make 2024 even better", Taylor said. 'Wahoo Sports & Entertainment was on site in January during the championships.  Tom Hill shares our vision to make the 2024 RVA XC Festival and USATF National Cross Country Championships experience even more special for participating athletes and spectators as team USA is selected for the 2024 World Athletics Cross Country Championships to be held in Serbia."

Road, mountain, trail and snowshoe running are the focal point for the Collegiate Running Association, along with enhancing the athlete experience. As the first organization to offer prize money specifically for college students, the CRA has become a progressive leader in the sport. Since 2014 over 15,000 college students from across the U.S. have participated in Collegiate Running Association National Championships and Collegiate Running Association members have qualified for 77 U.S. National Teams.

The next Collegiate Running Association championship will be the 2024 Collegiate Snowshoe Championships in February and will be followed by the Collegiate 10K Road Race National Championships scheduled for April 20th within the Ukrop’s Monument Avenue 10K presented by Kroger in Richmond, Virginia.
