2020 Collegiate Snowshoe National Championships
SATURDAY, February 29, 2020- LEADVILLE, COLORADO
The Collegiate Running Association partnered with the United States Snowshoe Association to endorse the 20th United States Snowshoe Championship presented by Dion Snowshoe. For the first time in history, in partnership with the Collegiate Running Association, the United States Snowshoe Association included a Collegiate Snowshoe Championships.
The race weekend offered events for everyone, of all ages and abilities. Male and female athletes competed in either a 5km or 10km snowshoe race determined by their age as of December 31st, 2020. Working in partnership with the Collegiate Running Association (CRA), the USSSA National Snowshoe Championships featured a national collegiate division in both the 5km (for collegiate athletes who do not turn 20 as of 12/31/20) and the 10km (for collegiate athletes who are 20 and older as of 12/31/20). Individual awards were presented within these collegiate divisions. The top collegiate finisher in the men’s and women’s 5km and the top collegiate finisher in the men’s and women’s 10km race were declared the 2020 Collegiate Snowshoe National Champions.
Collegiate athletes qualified to compete in the USSSA National Snowshoe Championships through various competitions. Along with the traditional qualifying means, any college athlete who completed the 2019 Collegiate 10K Road Race National Championship (Richmond, Virginia) or the 2019 Collegiate Trail Running Championship (Athens, Ohio) met the qualifying standard.
The top 3 overall finishers in the 5km National Championship event and the top 5 overall finishers in the 10km event also earned berths to the 2020 U.S. Junior and Senior National Snowshoe Teams and be eligible to represent the USA in national and international snowshoe competition over the upcoming year.
