SATURDAY, MAY 11, 2019-ATHENS, OH

The Thunderbunny 12K (~7.5 Miles) Trail Race served as host of the 2019 Collegiate Trail Running National Championships. This amazing event ran through the rolling hills of Southeastern Ohio within Strouds Run State Park near Athens, Ohio, the home of Ohio University. The park sits on the fringes of the city of Athens with park boundaries coinciding with the city limits in several places. The course was a mixture of mostly single track dirt and grass trails and had a total of 1,099 feet of elevation gain spread throughout the beautiful loop course. The park comprises 2,600 acres, and includes Dow Lake, a 160-acre lake created in 1960. The start and finish lines were located next to the lake which is a common destination of Ohio University students to enjoy the weather on sunny spring or summer days.

Like all of our championships, this event was Open To The Public, and offered prize money ($3,000) specifically reserved for college students. Check eligibility requirements or send us an email message with questions.

The 12K race served as the Collegiate Trail Running National Championship.  There was also a 25K (~15.5 Miles) and 50K (~31.1 Miles) event held in conjunction.  Due to Strouds Run State Park use permits these races were limited to the first 400 total registered participants, and Sold Out nearly 2 months before the event! Stay tuned for exciting news about 2020!
