May 25, 2026 – Winchester, Virginia – The 2026 Collegiate Road Mile National Championships delivered an exciting morning of elite racing on Memorial Day as top collegiate athletes from across the country competed at the historic 39th Annual Loudoun Street Mile in Old Town Winchester, Virginia.
Hosted as part of the annual Loudoun Street Mile festivities on Monday, May 25, the championship races brought together standout college talent on the spectator-friendly point-to-point course along South Loudoun Street, finishing on the historic Loudoun Street Pedestrian Mall in downtown Winchester. Along with the RRCA Region Championship, the event served as the Collegiate Running Association (CRA) Road Mile National Championship race.
In the college women’s championship race, Boston College’s Kyra Holland surged to victory in an impressive 4:38.4, narrowly holding off a strong challenge from NC State’s Hannah Ballowe, who finished second in 4:39.8. Their marks rank as the number three and four performances on the all-time list for the college event. Course record holder Gina McNamara (University of Michigan) rounded out the podium with a time of 4:44.7. She now holds the record and number ten college performance on the course.

The college men’s championship featured an aggressive early pace, with Virginia Tech’s Declan Rymer claiming the national title in 4:07.2 and placing second overall in the open race. Virginia’s Sebastian Nowicki earned runner-up honors among collegians in 4:16.1, while Ursinus College standout Tucker McGrath secured third place in 4:17.7.

Now in its 39th year, the Loudoun Street Mile continues to be one of the Shenandoah Valley’s premier road racing traditions, annually attracting elite runners, collegiate athletes, community participants, walkers, and families to Winchester over Memorial Day weekend. The event featured multiple race heats, a community fitness walk, and the popular Tot Trot for young runners.
The course began near 1512 South Loudoun Street and concluded in the heart of Old Town Winchester, creating a vibrant atmosphere for spectators lining the downtown corridor. Race organizers utilized a wave-format system to accommodate competitors ranging from elite championship athletes to recreational runners.
The Collegiate Road Mile National Championships continue to elevate the profile of road mile racing among collegiate athletes while showcasing Winchester and the Loudoun Street Mile on a national stage.
