Collegiate Running Association Expands Partnership with Kids Run RVA

Beginning in 2018 the Collegiate Running Association (CRA), the leading organization in road, mountain and trail running for college students across the nation, expanded its partnership with Kids On The Move, a program of Sports Backers. Under the expanded partnership, elite college runners will visit Richmond area schools participating in Kids Run RVA throughout the months of February, March and April leading up to the Ukrop's Monument Avenue 10K / Virginia529 Kids Run weekend.

Playing comes natural to kids. The Sports Backers created Kids Run RVA to make running and active living just as fun and easy. Kids Run RVA promotes physical activity to youth across the Richmond region and encourages more kids to get moving more often. Between all of their programs and events, Kids Run RVA instills healthy habits that continue to flourish into adolescence and adulthood.

"College students understand the importance of opportunity and giving back to the sport and community", said Collegiate Running Association Co-Founder Steve Taylor. "We are thrilled by the number of college students who want to participate in this outreach program. The coaches, teachers and parents who give of their time for these children is inspiring on so many levels.  When you see the joy these kids are experiencing it is a reminder of how so many of us were first introduced to this lifelong sport.  We are happy to be part of such a rewarding program."

Since 2014 when the Ukrop's Monument Avenue 10K first hosted the Collegiate 10K Road Race National Championships for men and women, the Collegiate Running Association has supported Kids Run RVA by having elite college runners visit two participating elementary and middle schools on the Friday before the Virginia529 Kids Run.  Photos from previous years
